Excelling in sales

Joel feels that the most effective sales associates are those who pay attention to their customers. Instead of entering into a meeting or call with a pre-rehearsed monologue, you should be able to listen to what a customer wants and adjust your sales pitch or business proposition appropriately. You are more likely to strike a chord with your client if you communicate in a way they can easily connect to, such as showing them how much money you can save or make. Since 2018, Joel has personally closed over $4.7 million in transactions and generated more than $30 million in revenue for his clients. He’s managed sales teams as large as 110 employees. He has instructed and coached over 8,000 salespeople. As a co-instructor, he also introduced the High-Ticket Closer Coaching Certification Program. He was also invited to participate as a sales speaker at the Board of Advisors. He also serves as a sales trainer for the Dragon 100 Advisory Board. Joel served in the United States Army as an enlisted man before becoming a Commissioned Officer.

How it all started

All of life’s most outstanding achievements have a variety of lowly beginnings. Despite their small size and seeming insignificance, “little things” and “modest beginnings” are the most essential and valued things in life…for everything comes from them. Joel Yi started his career when he was young, took chances, and learned more about sales and leadership in a few years than most individuals discover in their whole lives. As an international student in the United States, he never expected to reach this far. Joel made a risky decision in 2015, just after graduating from college, that set him on a path to a different future. That choice was to join the Army as a Private First Class, which would provide him US citizenship.

Meeting the Guru; Dan Lok

In 2018, Joel was a commissioned officer (2nd Lieutenant) in the United States Army Reserve with two bachelor’s degrees. Dan Lok’s mentorship program then accepted him. Under Lok’s guidance, Joel learned how to sell high-ticket items. When he adopted Lok’s training to accomplish incredible results, he became known as a new closer. Lok then asked Joel if he wanted to join his team. After closing so many deals, he was promoted to Assistant Transactions Manager in February 2019. Joel was promoted to Sales Manager in June of that year, and by October, he had earned the highest-ranking position, Director of Sales, after producing millions in sales.

A firm believer in Kaizen

Joel is a great believer in making tiny daily improvements that will eventually lead to the desired transformation, rather than striving to make drastic changes in a short time. Focus on improving by 1% each day in whatever you’re attempting to improve. That concludes it—only 1% of the population.

It may not seem like much, but according to Joel, those 1% improvements start stacking on each other. Your gains will be so tiny at first that they appear to be non-existent. However, you will gradually and inexorably discover benefits in your life. It may take months or even years, but you will see results if you focus on improving your game by 1% every month. While Kaizen was created to help businesses grow and prosper, Joel believes that we can apply it to our personal life and that it is the cure to endless, puke-inducing trips on the self-improvement roller coaster.

Where he stands now

Joel has undertaken several challenges since then. He’s led a remote team to many eight-figure sales (almost $30 million), thoroughly systematized the sales process for himself and his clients, and done it all while facing personal issues as a young buck dealing with ego. Joel is now regarded as one of the top high-ticket consultants in the world. He develops deadly sales teams, many of whom bring in millions for their customers.
