Matthew Beem (mbeem10 or Matt Beem) has been taking Youtube by storm. In the last month he’s done over 40 million views, and in the last 6 months has gained more than 1 million subscribers. Beem is an American content creator who is known for his unique challenges, vlogs, and larger-than-life creations. He undertakes some of the most impressive projects on the internet, some of which include building the world’s largest boxing glove and creating full-scale replicas of iconic items and locations in pop culture. In his first video that surpassed 1 million views, he built the worlds largest statue of one of the most popular Minecraft creators, Technoblade.

His videos don’t just showcase how he creates his incredible builds, but are also a MasterClass in storytelling as well. From the moment you click the video, Matthew Beem hooks you, keeping you glued to your seat. As the video progresses he faces challenges, like the builds breaking, as he tries to get builds done in tight time constraints. Great storytelling is a regular theme to Mathews videos as he utilizes stakes and tension to not only keep the viewer glued to his seat, but also keep them wanting more. In every single one of Beem’s videos he keeps the viewer hooked by making you not only want but need to know how it ends.

Matt Beem also utilizes a method known as trendjacking, where he builds already established creators with huge followings (technoblade, Dream, Jake Paul) massive creations. In one of Matt Beem’s most popular videos with over 20 million views, he builds MrBeast, a creator with over 90 million subscribers, the doll from Squid Game. Squid Game was one of Netflix’s most popular series about hundreds of cash-strapped contestants that accept an invitation to compete in children’s games for a tempting prize, but the stakes turn deadly. It makes sense why so many YouTubers and creators put their spin on the hit show, people were begging to see what other people could do with that story. MrBeasts own video, $456,000 Real Life Squid Game, has already garnered over 200 million views which is a testament to this notion. It’s incredible to see how Matt Beem has taken on YouTube, and I for one can’t wait to see what else he has up his sleeve.
