With over 20 years’ experience in the property industry and a strong, social-media following – Vincent Wong is an extremely familiar face in the Property Investment sector. Wong, the Co- founder of exchange-listed company Wealth Dragons, has had an interesting and varied path to the top. One often wonders how successful entrepreneurs arrive at their destination, as the adage goes; success is not constructed overnight.
Vincent’s property investing career started in 1997 and his journey to the top is well documented in across the financial press. Vincent’s partnership with world-famous social media star, John Lee, who Vincent has guided to obtain the property knowledge – was always going to be big. The duo have had worldwide success, including the publishing of “The Wealth Dragon Way: the Why, When and how to become infinitely Wealthy”.
Here, we discuss with Vincent; the journey to becoming listed on the exchange.
The origins of Vincent’s aim to list, stemmed back to his mid-20’s when he was still working in Pharmacy. He recalls a conversation with a very wealthy and successful friend in Hong Kong, “she said to make it rich that you have to make your company go public.”
The process, for any company and entrepreneur is extremely daunting; with Vincent estimating it takes around 4 years of serious work. “We really had to raise our standards and ensure full compliance, you really have to disclose every single element.”
Vincent then worked hard to assign a Board of Chairmen and Chief Financial Officer and worked relentlessly to ensure Wealth Dragons was as robust as it could be. Vincent is particularly proud that Wealth Dragons is the first company in its sector, to be listed in the UK. “It adds a real sense of authenticity and investors truly know who we and the company are”. This aligns with the London Stock Exchange’s view that listing truly offers great exposure for new companies.
Vincent recommends to others, that it is also really important for individuals to do their research into the Banks and stakeholders they’re working with during the list process. “It felt as if some of the banks pitching to us were trying to sell us unnecessary services which drove the overall costs up a lot.”
In spite of this, Wealth Dragons has successfully listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange (Wiener Borse). This is one of the fastest growing exchanges in Europe and is a stepping stone for Vincent and Jon to list on the LSE in the future.
Their listing has opened up many future doors for Wealth Dragons including access to financing, acquisitions and being able to offer Stock Options for future talent within the firm.
With equities and Venture Capital firms being well placed to rise again after 2020, Wealth Dragons is a name which we are confident will appear more and more.
